Academic Tutoring
Academic tutoring is designed for grade school students (1st-12th grades) who are currently enrolled in school or officially registered in a home-school program; as well as adult learners that need additional academic reinforcement or instruction.
Each client will receive an academic evaluation based upon his/her grade level or specific academic area of need. An individualized academic plan will be developed to help the client meet his/her academic goal. Clients will also receive a personal tutor to work with them.
Parents of grade school learners will make an initial ten (10) week commitment and the client must be tutored at least twice a week for a minimum of 1 to 2 hours each session. After the initial 10 weeks, clients may continue on an as needed basis.
*Initial consultation and testing is required prior to the start of individualized tutoring.
Keeping-In-Step Tutoring is reaching out to the community to serve the youth. We know that many children are lacking the skills need to be successful during the school year. Therefore, Keeping-In-Step has created Academic Enrichment through tutoring and workshops to bridge the skills gap and to help children achieve academic success during the school year.
We need help to help off set the cost of tutoring for students' whose parents are unable to afford supplemental educational services such as tutoring, test-taking workshops, etc. This is where we need your help. Will you sponsor a child for 10 sessions or more? Keeping-In-Step would like to tutor 10 children each grading period (academic quarter) absolutely FREE. The ten children will be selected from local Title 1 school(s) in Prince George’s County, Maryland that show financial hardship and academic need.
Thank you for your support.
Does your child need daily assistance with homework? Come join the "Study Buddy" group. Your child will work in a quite environment with other children who are studying for tests and completing homework assignments. Assistance will be available for your child when help is needed.
If you are a parent with limited time in your schedule for tutoring appointments (face to face), you can set up e-tutoring and telephone appointments to get homework assistance in core subject areas. Appointments can be made via e-mail. Each appointment will be scheduled for 30 minutes. Students requesting e-tutoring must have internet access, a working web cam, microphone, and speakers in order to have a successful connection. For more information, call us at 240-838-6278.
*Send your request to jennifer@keepinginsteptutoring.org. or call 240-838-6278.
The Maryland High School Assessment test has proven to be a challenge for some students. However, we can help. We will help prepare your child for the test by providing similar practice assignments and doing drills that will help shape your child's thinking.
We are also able to help if your child is faced with the possibility of not graduating from high school, and has been given an alternate project to complete. Take the stress out of trying to help your child complete the work. Bring it to us and let our experienced team help your child get it done.

GED preparation is designed for learners who have been officially withdrawn from high school prior to completing a High School Diploma, and who want to earn a GED but are in need of academic preparation.
Each client will complete the Official GED Practice Test to determine his/her readiness for the Official GED Test. The practice test will cover the same five academic areas as the Official GED Test. Each learner will receive an academic achievement plan based upon his/her practice test scores and the learner’s target GED testing date.
*A personal tutor will be assigned to each client. Each client must commit to meeting twice a week for a 1 or 2 hour session. This allows math, reading comprehension, and writing to be covered in 30-50 minute blocks of time.
